Week 20

Pregnancy confession...I drink coffee!  There I said it!  I’m sorry Aiden...its just Momma can’t function this time around without caffeine to start the day.  I think the rule should be 1 cup of coffee per child anyways!!  And in my defence, there is caffeine in cola and chocolate which many pregnant mom's consume and I do not.  The problem with caffeine they say is that it can constrict blood vessels including those in the placenta...which can limit the oxygen exchange to your baby. That being said, experts feel that anything less than 200mg is safe.  I think there is about 95mg in a regular 8 oz cup of coffee.

The Nursery is painted!!  My Mom and Sister arrived a weekend ago (with cookies!!) and they took turns entertaining the menagerie and helping me paint.  Including a pizza break, I think we had two coats on the wall within 4 hours!  The colour didn't turn out to be exactly what I had in mind but it ends up working with bedding anyways.  It is the strangest paint.  Yellow by day and green by night.  But as I said, the bedding has both those colours so it works rather well.  

And speaking of bedding, it arrived on Friday.  So it was a fun weekend of making up the crib, placing the mobile, and putting the monster appliqués on the wall.  The pictures don’t do the comforter justice.  There is corduroy and faux suede trim, metallic looking embroidery, and the monster arms are stuffed and raised up off the blanket.  I also ordered a dresser which arrived on Friday as well.  Bryce was a BIG help spreading all the pieces and screws around the nursery so that I could find everything more easily!  Ugh!  Lol  I think I'll get some wooden letters to spell his name above the crib and maybe find a couple of pictures for above the dresser.  Oh and the set came with 3 fabric wall hangings that I'll turn into cushions for the chair.

What’s happening with baby this week? “This week you're carrying around 10.5 inches and 10.5 ounces of solid magical baby goodness! (They start measuring baby from head to heel instead of crown to rump at week 20) Your fantastic fetus' fragile tiny bones continue to ossify and toughen while their itsy bitsy finger and toe pads (and unique finger prints) are finishing up. Your little womb-dancer also has teeth buds sprouting beneath their gum line. And finally! Your wee one's limbs have reached their relative proportions — no more bobble-head! Their little pink lips are more defined, and might be helping out in a bit of prenatal thumb-sucking. If you have a little boy: their tiny testes are descending, though they have not yet passed the abdominal wall.  And in a final anti-alien development: the first of their tiny eyelashes and eyebrows are now present.  Essentially, your little one really does looks like a miniature baby — and we do mean miniature - your little swimmer currently weighs a mere eighth of their birth weight.

Good work mama! You're bakin' a beautiful baby and you're already half-done!
